In each pregnancy consultation, we provide accurate education on each pregnancy option, sharing the truth about abortion, adoption and parenting. We focus on each client as a whole person – body, mind and soul. Our peer-counseling provides a caring, listening ear and covers physical concerns, fears and anxieties, resources available, and the client’s spiritual beliefs. Our peer-counselors share the love of Jesus Christ and the hope He offers in each client’s specific situation.

If a client requests, our peer-counselors are also available for meeting with her parents, husband or boyfriend, family and/or friends to support her as she shares the news of her pregnancy. Each counselor can provide a referral for professional counseling as well.

At the Mid Cities Pregnancy Center, we offer a confidential, lab-quality test manufactured by Mainline Technologies that is more than 99% accurate.

Ultrasound Technology

For clients who qualify, we offer free, state-of-the-art Ultrasound exams performed by one of our licensed medical personnel.

While one of our clients may receive an accurate, positive result on her pregnancy test at the center, an ultrasound can confirm whether or not her pregnancy is viable. Various studies have shown that anywhere from 20 to 30 percent of pregnancies are not viable and end in miscarriage. One facet of our ministry is to protect women from abortions, and that includes those that are medically unnecessary.

Ultrasound technology has been in existence for more than 40 years and uses sound waves to produce an image, called a sonogram. The sonogram provides a "window to the womb," enabling our clients to see the life growing within them.

Ultrasounds clearly detect and display on the sonogram the baby’s heartbeat in the womb as early as eight weeks, though the heart has been beating since Day 18.

Depending on how far a client’s pregnancy has progressed by the date of her ultrasound, she will see amazing levels of development.

Month 1: The spinal cord, muscles, nerves, arms, legs, eyes and ears are apparent

Month 2: All ten fingers, movement and response to touch can be seen

Month 3: Fingerprints, sleep cycles, and response to pain are all present, and thumb sucking can often be seen

Month 4: Hair is now growing on the scalp and sex differentiation is recognizable  

Each client is offered a sonogram picture to take home to share with family and friends.

Our nurses regularly see clients make a change of heart regarding their plans to terminate their pregnancies, once the sonogram shows this “problem” looks just like a baby, and in fact, already is.   

Post-Abortion Counseling

Many women choose abortion thinking abortion will serve as an eraser, allowing them to forget and move on with their lives. Very often, this is simply not true, and women find their entire world is impacted by this one decision.

For women experiencing pain, trauma or depression related to a past abortion, we offer an eight-week program designed to help clients heal. The program pairs the client with a trained counselor for two hours a week in a strictly confidential and caring atmosphere.

Support group sessions are also available for those interested in reaching out with their stories beyond their one-on-one sessions.

Classes

For our clients who chose to parent, we offer classes that help them navigate the many choices that will follow. Our classes cover topics such as caring for a newborn, nutrition, health, and safety, and use volunteers, DVD tutorials and homework to give our clients practical help for their new lives as parents. Clients who complete our classes earn points to spend in our HOPE program that they can redeem for items such as baby clothes, diapers and toys.

HOPE

While a choice for life is certainly courageous, it is only the first step of a long journey when a client feels she is stepping forward alone. We pledge to walk that journey alongside women who come to us for help, and our HOPE ministry is the material assistance that validates the emotional and spiritual support we give.

Our HOPE program allows our clients to go through parenting training to earn points they can spend in our HOPE ‘Mommy and Me’ boutiques. These closets are filled with donations of new and gently used items such as maternity clothes, baby clothes, toys, linens, and even furniture.

Our clients know their immediate needs will not go unmet as they work through our program to provide better lives for themselves and their babies.
